Ten Foot Polecats Aug 3 to Aug 17 - Coast to Coast US Tour 2012 !!

Hey all,

For all those people (on the west coast, in the southwest, texas area, etc.) over the years who have been saying, "come out to play (fill in location)"....well, we are taking your suggestion and doing it. Ten Foot Polecats are pleased to announce their Coast to Coast US Tour 2012!

Now, here's the thing. We have to do this in a trip which is going to be approximately 8000 miles (which equals 3 oil changes, approximately $1,100 in fuel costs, and some hotel stays) in 17 days. We can't spend as much time as we would like on the road, though we wish we could and play more places. Being from New England, we don't get many chances to come to the western part of the US, so we are going to need your support. All we ask is that you come out to the show and tell your friends, so they can come as well. If you like what your hear, pick up a CD, sign up on our mailing list, and, most important,...spread the word about the band.

Some of you have already contacted us and offered up your services, your homes, and more.... and we just want to say thank you so much for your hospitality. We really appreciate it!!!

Anyway, onto the Tour Schedule....All shows are normal evening hours except as noted.

Hey now!

Well, April was a hoot! We played several shows with our pals Molly Gene One Whoaman Band and Scissormen. So much fun! Particularly the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge with the great Peter Parcek, and the Elevens with up and coming deep blues band, Handsome Wife. Great to see brand new bands putting their own spin on the deep blues! Also, while Molly Gene was in town, we recorded a couple of new songs; "Do I Move You", a Nina Simone song, which Molly sounds AMAZING singing, and "Turkey Snappin' Mamma", a song we put together on the spot with lyrics about Molly's grandma. "Turkey Snappin' Mamma" boasts the combined power of Molly Gene, TFPC, and the great Matt Snow, revved up and flyin' down the highway at top speed. Both of these songs are available on CD Baby and iTunes. Right now, we're headed to Christfyfest in Shippensburg, PA, where we'll share the stage with Husky Burnette, Olds Sleeper, Danny Kay and the Nightlifers, and a host of others. Wooohooooo!!!!!!
See ya!

We are terrible at "blogging"...Some TFPC news here

Hey all, Ok...it's obvious, we suck at "blogging", but to get you up to speed with us, here is some current news:

We are currently recording our 2nd EP with Richard Rosenblatt, who has recorded The North Mississippi All Stars, Hubert Sumlin, Susan Tedeschi, and countless others. We have 7 tracks nearly complete and we're well on our way writing some other songs. It is sounding really good, you will be really pleased!!!
In August, we are touring the Western US with stops in Montana, Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and then back across the Mississippi River for shows in Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and MO.
We are still trying to kick ass in New England. NH finally relented and let us in. VT and ME, I wish you would let us in...weep weep weep.

Next Shows are March 23, Black Cat Lounge - Fayetteville NC....March 24, The Coliseum - Camp Hill PA

What's Up in 2012 for Ten Foot Polecats

We just wanted to let you all know what's happening with TEN FOOT POLECATS in 2012 as we continue to book out the year with shows, festivals, house parties, etc., and work on our second LP. Some new things (well, new to us) are on the horizon...Check it out.

NEW ALBUM RELEASE
We are currently recording our second LP with Rosy Rosenblatt, who has recorded albums with Paul Rishell and Annie Raines, Bernard Allison, and Grammy nominated albums by Susan Tedeschi, North Mississippi Allstars and Taj Mahal. Although we do not have a time table for completion, we'd like to think it will be available to the public sometime in the summer, if not sooner. We may even do a vinyl run of the new album!

COMPILATIONS
We are also going to have some recordings on various album compilations, including our version of "Peaches" on Outlaw Radio Chicago Vol II (Solitary Records), and some songs for a complitation of artists who are playing Christyfest this year. If our recording continues to go well, we may also have songs coming out on other comps, including the JR/RL compilation by Hillgrass Bluebilly Records.

TOURING
Besides our normal New England to Pennsylvania touring schedules, we are going to be playing shows in the following locales in August, as we are doing our first coast to coast tour: Western Montana, Washington, Oregon, Northern & Southern California, Arizona, Southern New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Illinois, Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, and Upstate NY. Show confirmations are still being worked out, so keep an eye on the schedule!

FESTIVALS
Look for us this year at: Deep Blues Festival, Northwest Deep Blues Festival - Cleveland, Christyfest (Shippensberg PA), New England Winter Blues Festival (THIS SATURDAY IN SALISBURY!).

MOVIE APPEARANCE
Yes, this is a new one for us! Looks like Jim Chilson is going to make an appearance in a movie documentary about Mississippi Blues Legend, and I believe oldest actively touring musician, "T-Model Ford", who is estimated to be around +/- 95 years old. Our version of T-Model Ford's song, "Chicken Head Man", is also going to be used in the movie. The movie is a Chicken Head Man Production and is due to be released later in 2012. Also, check out T-Model Ford's backing band, GRAVELROAD. Their new album, "Psychedelta", is awesome!

Thurs Nov 17 at The Regent Theatre - Arlington MA - Last Boston area show until March 2012

Hey all,

Just wanted to say "thank you" to everyone who helped support us this past year. We are approaching the end of 2011, with only about a month and a half to go, and we just wanted to tell you about our last Boston area show until March 2012.

In the meantime, we will be working on our next album and we might have some interesting things happening in that time too. So stay tuned for all those updates.

Back to 2011, this Thursday Nov 17, we are playing a very special show!
"The Roots N'Blues Revue" at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA.

Don't worry. I know it's a theatre show, but it's not formal, as the only time we will probably get formal is for an extended stay in a luxurious satin filled pine box. Anyway, as I was saying, a theatre show is a new thing for us, as we typically kick it up in the mud in a club, or actually IN the mud, but this time around you will hear Ten Foot Polecats on a pristine sound system, so if you liked our sound before, you will love it now!

We open the show at 8pm, but this is not just about us....The lineup is great! Scissormen (Nashville TN), Peter Parcek (Boston MA), and The Powerhouse Berklee Band.

...and here is a little something about Scissormen and Peter Parcek

SCISSORMEN
This internationally touring duo of former Bostonians, Ted Drozdowski (guitar) and Matt Snow (drums), bring the sounds of the Mississippi Delta and hill country’s juke joints to modern life. With four albums and a concert resume that includes Bonnaroo, Memphis in May, and France’s Cognac Blues Passions, they are gaining a world-wide reputation for high-wire shows. The band also stars in award-winning roots film-maker Robert Mugge’s latest feature-length documentary BIG SHOES: Walking and Talking the Blues.

PETER PARCEK
World-class singer-instrumentalist Peter Parcek calls his approach “soul guitar,” an appellation that alludes to his playing’s depth of feeling and character, as well as its deepest roots in classic American music. But Peter’s sensibilities are equally attuned to the future, as his latest album, The Mathematics of Love, which garnered a Best Debut Album nomination in the 2011 Blues Music Awards, attests. No less an authority than blues legend Buddy Guy has proclaimed Peter “as bad as Eric Clapton.”

Needless to say, don't miss this show!

MUDDY ROOTS to BLOODY ROOTS!

Man, what a great summer, which is now becoming an even better fall. Let see, where do we begin? How about MUDDY ROOTS FESTIVAL in Cookeville, TN! This was an incredible time. Our friends, Possessed By Paul James, Left Lane Cruiser, The Scissormen, Husky Burnette, Calamity Cubes, Reverend Dead Eye, James Hunnicutt, all killed it!....and I heard we did ok too! ha!....Some bands, that we saw for the first time, like Hellbound Glory, Peculiar Pretzelmen, Last False Hope, Bob Wayne, and many more, also wowed us (and the crowd). Saturday brought temperatures exceeding 105 deg F, and Sunday brought Tropical Storm type downpours, but that didn't matter as the crowd was not swayed by the weather...and frankly, how great is it to see performers and fans rolling around in the mud and enjoying music! But probably the best thing about Muddy Roots was seeing friends that we havent seen for years, and meeting up with friends that we only knew via the computer. Needless to say, Muddy Roots 2012 cannot get here soon enough for us.

Since then, we have had some great shows. Here is a short list:

Snug Harbor (New Paltz NY) with Pitchfork Militia
Speal's Tavern (New Alexandria PA)
Beatniks (Worcester MA) with Phillip Roebuck and Sean K. Preston
Mari's Place (Quincy MA)
Club Bohemia (Cambridge MA) with The Killerados and Tsunami of Sound
Nick-A-Nees (Providence RI) with Boo City and Sit Down Baby
...and you know, I am sure I am missing some other shows as well

This coming weekend is no different...
Friday October 21 at McGann's (197 Portland Street) Boston MA with our good friend Jeff Norwood from South Carolina, Wildcat O'Halloran, and Gracie's Curran new project, "Handsome Wife".

and on Saturday Night October 22, we have The New England Bloody Roots Festival (Muddy Roots is having an influence, as you can tell). This one-day festival is organized by James Keyes and will take place from 1pm to 2am at Ralph's (148 Grove Street) in Worcester, MA. If you don't know Ralph's already, it is one of Worcester's greatest rock clubs.

Weather permitting, music will be outside until 6pm.

1pm The Sarah Levecque Band
2pm Jon Short
3pm Scott Ricciuti and Pistol Whipped
4pm The Farmer's Union Players
5pm Angry Johnny and the Killbillies
6pm Stage change
7pm Geo Poor and Amy Levine
8pm Sharks Come Cruisin'
9pm Jeff Norwood
10pm Erin Harpe and the Delta Swingers
11pm James Keyes
12am Ten Foot Polecats

So, it looks like we are closing the festival, but get there early!
Only $12 for 12 bands! That's a pretty damn good deal!

Ten Foot Polecats - Tours, Festivals, Throwdowns...Just your typical July and August Chaos

It's obvious I have been slacking here on the blog, so I hope to get you up to speed on what has happened to TFPC in July and August. On July 4th weekend is HEAVY REBEL WEEKENDER in Winston Salem NC. It is always crazy and this year was no different! If you are familiar with HRW, you already know that the throwing of beer cans = applause/cheers. If you are not familiar with it, get on youtube and search "Heavy Rebel Weekender"! Anyway, the music this year was even better than last as it was very, very diverse! We got things rolling with a 7pm set on The Main Stage. If you haven't gone yet, go next year. Big props to our friends, Tex Railer's Doomtown and Filthy Still for making impressive debuts. Go check them out!

Next show was at Fiery Ron's Hometeam BBQ in West Ashley, SC with Jeff Norwood. We can't get enough of Hometeam or South Carolina. Next to Minnesota, this might be our home away from home. Big thanks to Bobby and his wife, and Wave Milor for coming (Wave from Virginia!) to see the show on a Tuesday Night.....and, of course, Jeff Norwood. Go check out the new album he recorded with Jimbo Mathus. It is great! And if you get a chance to see him live, ask him to play GOD DAMN SOUTH CAROLINA!

Wednesday July 6, we shared the stage with Husky Burnette in Knoxville TN at Preservation Pub. Great venue and a great crowd, especially for a Wednesday! Highly recommended to go check this place out and, of course, if you haven't yet...go see Husky Burnette! He rocks and has a damn fine, filthy tone on that guitar. Definite Ear Candy!

Thursday July 7 in Nashville TN at The Family Wash w/Scissormen, Ray Cashman, and Mark Porkchop Holder. I would love to tour 365 days a year with this lineup. If nothing else, we could guarantee each bar selling out of whiskey and $2 beers (which I think actually happened with the PBR....I blame Ray). Big thanks to Ted and Laurie and their ginger-headed roommate for the hospitality (as we got to crash at their place before the show) and big props to Ray for letting us crash for the night at chez Cashman.

Friday July 8 - Reggie's in Chicago. I love this place as it might be the only place in the US that can mix sports and music together without being cheesy on either end. That is tough to do! The crowd was a little light at first, for a Friday in Chicago, but then started to pick up half way through our set. Got to meet some great folks and new fans who we also saw at our next Chicago show.

Sat July 9th through Tues July 12 - MINNESOTA. I have no idea what it is about this place, but damn the people up here just totally get it! I could write 14 paragraphs about
Minnesota and it still wouldnt be enough, so I am going to keep it as short as possible so I dont bore the hell out of you. Over these four days, we got to play multiple shows
with these bands...Left Lane Cruiser, Kent Burnside, Spider John Koerner, The Scissormen, Tom VandenAvound, Drew Peterson, Javior Matos, and more! And what is even better, we got to play for such great people and music lovers: Kari Potter, Nick LIndsay, John Muller, Chloe Nicol, Karen Abney Korn, Al Lucken, Skip Papworth, Sawyer Buttweiler, The Petermans, Ryan Harried, and many more who I am surely missing here (sorry...like I said, I could go on and on)...and, of course, the amazing Casey Weber and Lissa Baker, Chris Johnson and family, and Chris Mozena & Tony Bordsen (aka Boom Boom Belam). Last, but certainly not least., Kari Potter gets my vote for fan of the year. 4 days with Ten Foot Polecats, Scissormen, and many others bunking down in your house drinking your alcohol and eating your food...you have a strong constitution!!! Thanks again, Kari!

Wed July 13 - Back to Chicago for an event put together by Brian K. Reese of Big Rock Candy Mountain, and Tony Manno. Ten Foot Polecats, Mississippi Gabe Carter, Scissormen, and Molly Gene. Great time here and this was a monumental show as it was the debut of the "Ol' Black Mattie Jam" with TFPC, Scissormen, and Molly Gene. I think this is documented on YouTube, so go check it out. Thanks again, Brian!!!

Thurs July 14 - Grand Rapids MI at The Tip Top Deluxe Bar. This is a new venue Devilyn Carver is booking. It's new and its nice!! Very healthy pour on the whiskey too, I might add! Another great time and it's always great to get up to Michigan to see Devilyn, Creepr, and their son, Nick!

Fri July 15 - Deep Blues Pre-Party at The Brass Rail in Fort Wayne IN....Left Lane Cruiser, Ten Foot Polecats, Scissormen, Mark Porkcop Holder, and Molly Gene!! $5 cover if I remember correctly?!?! Need I say more? Fort Wayne IN is great .I sometimes wish every city and town we played in was a little bit like Fort Wayne and A LOT like The Brass Rail. Another awesome job Ando!

Sat July 16 - DEEP BLUES FESTIVAL!!! - CLEVELAND Ohio. Ted and I just want to thank everyone who made this event a success! We didnt really realize how difficult it was to put on a festival while keeping our jobs and running booking, promo, etc. for our own bands throughout the year, but it was all worth it in the end as everything came off without a hitch. In fact, The Beachland Ballroom wants us back next year for DEEP BLUES FESTIVAL (stay tuned for an official announcement - probably fall 2012). Big thanks to Cindy Barber and everyone at The Beachland! Of note, people who attended or played this event came from the following places: Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Dayton OH, New Mexico, Austin, Nashville, Chatanooga, Boston, New York City, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Fort Wayne IN, Joplin MO, Columbus OH, Washington DC, Jacksonville FL, and, of course, Cleveland and Akron OH!

After this tour, things were kind of a blur, BUT we made it back home and had some great shows at The Next Page Cafe, Lucky Dog Music Hall, The Bone, a CD Release Party for the Boston Blues Society (our song "So Good To Me" is included on the CD!) at The C Note in Hull MA, and one of our favorite places with one of our loudest and youngest fan bases - Albany NY!!! Man, we love playing in Abany. Big thanks to John & TJ of the Killerados!! They are doing things right up there!!

Last, but not least, is the 5th Annual Return to Milltown in Sturbridge MA. This is basically a mini Heavy Rebel Weekender as it's a 2 day event with live music, hot rods, pinup girls, and so much more. New England, New York, and New Jersey are well represented at Milltown. Lance Ferrell and Grace Black do a fantastic job with this event and I hope it continues to grow! Lineup included Sasquatch & The Sickabillys, The Arkhams, Johnny Carlevale, Ten Foot Polecats, Tex Railer's Doomtown, Filthy Still, The Gamma Rays, Tsunami of Sound, and lots more!

Coming up:

Fri Aug 26th - Geezer's Garage Night at The Granite Rail Tavern in Quincy MA (Trinute to Hillgrass Bluebilly Records!!) - TFPC on at 9:15pm

and Sept 2nd through 4th - MUDDY ROOTS MUSIC FESTIVAL!!! Cookeville TN - TFPC on stage at 12:30pm Sat Sept 3rd

Thanks for reading,....you have a lot of patience!
and I apologize for all my spelling and grammar mistakes!

We want to say "thank you" to all the people that came out and packed the house at The Rosebud Bar in Somerville for North Mississippi Hill Country Blues Night on Saturday. And on Friday night, as usual, another bang out crowd at Banjo Jim's in NYC for Hill Country Night! Looks like this thing is building up some steam!

Special thanks to our sponsors on Saturday (Boston Blues Society, The Blues Audience newsletter, Jugtown Radio) and to the people who helped out with promotion, such as MySecretBoston, Playground Boston, Michael D Spencer Photography, and, of course, all the bands who played: Kent Burnside & The New Generation, Cashman, and Tokyo Tramps!

Thanks to everyone who came out this past weekend. Saturday night at Chilihead, as always, another great time was had. How could it not. It is one of our favorite places. Friday night was pretty epic - the people at Valentine's in Albany, NY showed us what a real rock venue is like - one of the best and most vocal crowds we have played in front of ,and that is including some festivals! We will be back there as soon as we can! Great sets also from Al & The Black Cats, Tex's Railers Doomtown, The Killerados, Black Tie Operation, and Charmboy (thanks to The Hellions of Troy Roller Derby for also helping out)!

This weekend we have two special shows on tap as it's a double dose of North Mississippi Hill Country Blues Night. It makes its debut in the Boston area following Pork Chop Willie's original NYC North Mississippi Hill Country Blues Night! Don't miss this New York and New England !!

Friday April 1 at Banjo Jim's - 700th East 9th Ave - NYC (East Village)
KENT BURNSIDE & THE NEW GENERATION (Mississippi)
PORK CHOP WILLE (NYC)
TEN FOOT POLECATS (Worcester/Boston)
CASHMAN (Nashville)

Sat April 2 at Rosebud Bar & Grill - 381 Summer St - Somerville MA (Davis Square)
**Sponsored by Boston Blues Society, Blues Audience Magazine, & JugTown Radio!
KENT BURNSIDE & THE NEW GENERATION (Mississippi)

Also, we will be taking donations for Japan Earthquake Relief Fund in Somerville on April 2nd...and if you buy a Ten Foot Polecats CD ($10) at this show, they will donate $5 to the relief fund for each TFPC CD that is sold. So come on out for this great cause, and to shake'em on down!

Rehash of the last few weeks - March 2011

In March we have had some memorable shows, that's for sure. We started off the month in Long Branch, NJ at The Brighton Bar, opening for Sasquatch & The Sickabillys. Great show, cool venue, cool staff, lower attendance than we would have liked...maybe it was because Motorhead was playing a show a short distance away. Damn you, Lemmy. Oh well, can't complain too much as any show with Sasquatch is legendary in one way or another! He rules...and so do his new bandmates Bob Giusti and Memphis Roarke. We look forward, as always, to playing shows with them.

Then we proceeded to Bordentown, NJ to play the next night with The Ultra Kings (PA) at The Record Collector. Very intimate show with seats about 3 feet from the band. We were a little scared of this setup at first, considering our blues gets very loud and aggressive once we start feeling it. They didnt mind at all, in fact they enjoyed the show so much we got invited back to play on July 30th. Big thanks to all the people that came to the show and set up the show in the Record Collector. Not many venues can handle 2 bands while having 1,000,000 vinyl in the same area. Might be a new place on the favorite list. No drinking though, but we took care of that down the street at a nice pub/restaurant with some fine specialty brews. Just letting you know if you come out next time!

South Carolina's own Jeff Norwood came out for 3 shows...one at Beatnik's in Worcester with the friendliest venues owners in all of New England, Niki Brouillette. We love Niki & Beatnik's as musicians, and any artist is treated so well there. I think it is high time Worcester packs that place every night because she deserves it. Saturday afternoon was a real treat as we got to play a house concert in Agawam, MA courtesy of Mr. Lee Jergensen! What a welcoming event this was. We were treated great by all the people who came out to this intimate show as we were fed, given a little whiskey, and had a great time playing to an audience that really listens! It was very similar to The Record Collector show. Can't wait to play the house concert series again!

We also got our first exposure to Northampton, MA with Black Cat Bone Music! Big props to Rob Charette of Damon Reeves Band as he set up and promoted a hell of a show. We really look forward to getting back out to the Northampton area for another show. In fact, we liked it so much we wanted to get them in Boston and set them up with a show on May 14 at Club Bohemia. More deep blues fun on the horizon! On Monday, we played The Midway Cafe in Jamaica Plain on Sonny Jim and The Blue Devils bill, BUT unfortunately Sonny had to leave before the show started because he was very sick...but the rest of us pulled the show together and rocked it. The crowd loved Jeff Norwood and TFPC as well. The owner, Dave, is a madman in every good sense of the word. If we could clone him 100 times and bring him to every show, each show would be epic crowd-wise. I wish I had as much energy as him!

This weekend we are playing a killer show in Albany, NY and at our favorite New England BBQ joint, and the first week of April brings you North Mississippi Hill Country Blues Nights in New York City and Somerville, MA. Check out the events page on the website for all details. Also check out the merch page as we got some CDs at discounted prices and T-Shirts coming soon!

Ten Foot Polecats Mid-February 2011 Update

Hey all,

So far, so good in 2011. We had some really great shows already...and some great shows on the road! So far, the highlight was at The Low Country Blues Bash in Charleston, South Carolina. The crowd at Hometeam BBQ (Sullivan's Island) was amazing and very active as they were cutting some rug from 9:30pm to 1:30am. Also very friendly as they bought about 15 cds and brought us food and beverage for the road. Granted our fat asses don't need Dr.Pepper and Little Debbie Oatmeal and Cream Snack Cakes, BUT when you are driving 13 hours to get home it is a welcomed form of fuel. We look forward to being back down at Hometeam BBQ on July 5th.

Chad Rousseau, our drummer, has been kicking ass on the kit as he has picked up the old set list seemlessly, as well as being a major contributor on our new songs which we have been playing at the shows.

Up Next:
Fri Feb 18 FARM BAR & GRILL - Essex MA
Sat Feb 19 SPEAL'S TAVERN - New Alexandria, PA
Fri Feb 25 GEEZER'S GARAGE NITE AT THE GRANITE RAIL - Quincy MA
Sat Feb 26 CAFE NINE - New Haven CT (w/ The Recently Deceased)
Fri March 4 THE BRIGHTON BAR - Long Branch NJ (w/ Sasquatch & The Sickabillys)
Sat March 5 THE RECORD COLLECTOR - Bordentown, NJ
Fri March 11 BEATNIK'S - Worcester MA (w/ Jeff Norwood)
Sat March 12 THE BASEMENT - Northhampton MA (w/ Damon Reeves & Jeff Norwood)

Check our schedule for more upcoming shows and please sign up on our email list if you haven't already. Once facebook makes like myspace and becomes a ghost town, email will be the only way we have to give your free stuff and tell you offensive and immature jokes!

2011 is out of the gates and running!

So, this past weekend in Worcester and Bridgewater, we got a warm reception at our 2 shows, sold more CDs (3 times more) than we have in a while, and got some new fans. Our new drummer, Chad Rousseau, kicked ass. Our new original songs are developing and are on the way to becoming show staples. What else can I say? It's early, but 2011 is looking damn good.

This coming weekend, we will be playing a new venue in Floyd Virginia and returning to Charleston, South Carolina. Two shows, 35 hours of driving, 2,100 miles traveled....well worth it to escape the snow!

Go check out the front page of the website for the show details and do us a favor....pass this website on to your friends and have them sign up for our mailing list. We want to know where you are...and you will want to know where we are, so you can either come to the show or avoid us on purpose. The Mailing List works both ways like that!
